Who Was Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to all the worlds.” (Quran 21:107). An honest look into his historical life, character, and enduring teachings.

Humanity & Prophethood

A Man of Extraordinary Character

Muslims love and revere Prophet Muhammad ﷺ deeply, but never worship him. He is not divine, nor do Muslims pray to him. He was a human being who experienced sorrow, loss, illness, hunger, and joy.

His title is Rasulullah (The Messenger of Allah) and the “Seal of the Prophets” (Khatam an-Nabiyyin) — concluding the noble lineage of prophecy that began with Adam and passed through Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.

Why Do Muslims Say “ﷺ”?

Whenever mentioning the Prophet's name, Muslims add the honorific Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam (ﷺ), which translates to: “May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.” It is an expression of enduring gratitude and respect.

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day.” (Quran 33:21)
